Sarah Bachofner

Dr. Sarah Bachofner grew up in a small town in Montana. She earned her doctor of pharmacy from the University of Montana. Her passion for functional medicine began at the University during undergrad where she took every nutrition course offered to non-nutrition majors, including nutrition for sport and nutrition for chronic disease. Her passion grew throughout pharmacy school, especially during her medicinal plants and Ayurvedic medicine courses. She has always believed in a holistic approach to health care and that preventing illness and promoting wellness are crucial to improving health. With each patient, she provides education and establishes a partnership with the common goal of recovery and wellness. She provides a positive, joyful and talented approach to patient care. She has completed training from the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine and is a certified Integrative Pharmacy Specialist and certified Restorative Wellness Practitioner.  

Lindsey Dalton

Lindsey Dalton is a pharmacist who specializes in functional medicine, with a passion for empowering individuals to reduce and manage stress, optimize gut health, and address eczema through holistic approaches. With over 11 years of experience in community pharmacy, Lindsey felt a deep yearning to shift her focus toward uncovering the root causes of health issues and promoting wellness through lifestyle interventions.

Driven by a commitment to comprehensive care, Lindsey advocates for a personalized, patient-centered approach that emphasizes the interconnectedness of lifestyle choices and overall health. Her mission is to educate and empower individuals to take charge of their well-being by understanding and addressing the underlying factors contributing to their health challenges.

Lindsey holds a PharmD and continues to stay at the forefront of functional medicine practices, blending her expertise in pharmacology with a holistic perspective. Through her practice, Lindsey strives to make a meaningful difference in the lives of her clients, guiding them toward sustainable health and vitality.

Jessica Pizano

Dr. Jessica Pizano graduated with honors from the University of Bridgeport’s clinical nutrition master’s program. Soon after she earned her certified nutrition specialist (CNS) credential and continued her education at Maryland University of Integrative Health where she graduated with a Doctor of Clinical Nutrition. The owner of Mast Cell Advanced Diagnostics and co-owner of Clinical Paradigms, Dr. Pizano uses nutrition, nutritional genomics, metabolomics, and medical advocacy to help improve clinical outcomes in those with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, mast cell activation disorders, dysautonomia, and other related conditions.

Along with Sabrina Vaz, she has created The Zebra Method, a series of Pilates-based corrective exercise videos and other resources for patients with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. She has developed course work at the master’s, doctoral, and post-graduate level at MUIH in nutritional genomics, has published a series of peer-reviewed journal articles on the microbiome, contributed two chapters on nutritional genomics in a graduate-level nutrition textbook, and contributed the first published nutritional guidelines for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome in the book Transforming Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. In addition to her clinical practice and teaching, Dr. Pizano frequently participates in research to benefit patients with connective tissue disease and related conditions.

Robert Luby

Prior to joining IFM in 2015, Dr. Robert Luby spent 26 years as a board-certified family physician serving patients in community health centers, successfully applying the functional medicine model in marginalized communities and under-resourced settings. During the immediate 16 years prior to joining IFM, he served as the director of curriculum and faculty training in an academic family medicine residency program. Past teaching affiliations include Harvard, UMass, Tufts, Boston U, and the University of Vermont medical schools. Dr. Luby holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Dartmouth, and received his MD degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He was board certified in holistic medicine in 2002, and in 2013 joined the first class of IFM Certified Practitioners.

Outside of IFM, Robert might be found contemplating the nature of philosophy, the philosophy of poetry, or the poetry of nature.

Patrick Hanaway

Patrick Hanaway, MD is a board-certified family physician trained at Washington University. Dr. Hanaway served on the Executive Committee for the American Board of Integrative Medicine and is the Past President of the American Board of Integrative Holistic Medicine. For the past 25 years he has worked with his wife in clinical practice at Family to Family: Your Home for Whole Health Care in Asheville, NC.

After 10 years as Chief Medical Officer at Genova Diagnostics, Dr. Hanaway became the Chief Medical Education Officer at the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) where he oversaw the development and implementation of IFM’s programs worldwide. He continues to consult and teach with IFM.

Dr. Hanaway helped develop the collaboration between IFM and the Cleveland Clinic, where he was the founding Medical Director and now serves as the Director of Research at the Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine.

Kristi Hughes

Kristi Hughes, ND, founded the Center of Natural Healing Arts over a decade ago with a vision of providing integrated healthcare solutions for the public as well as healthcare providers both locally in Minnesota and internationally. Dr. Hughes attended the University of Minnesota Duluth and then graduated from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, OR, in 1997. While in medical school, she worked at the Fibromyalgia and Myofascial Pain Clinic under Dr. Carolyn McMakin, learning advanced strategies for managing chronic pain naturally through the use of frequency-specific microcurrent. Dr. Hughes became an Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice (AFMCP) graduate in 2000 and immediately found that the Functional Medicine Matrix Model offered the architecture she had been seeking to organize her naturopathic education. She went on to reattend the AFMCP program three additional times over the decade, then joined as an educator on the Detox Advanced Practice Module. She became Associate Director of Medical Education for IFM in early 2010 and Director of Medical Education in 2014. Her role at IFM includes working with the development and teaching teams in the Functional Medicine Certification Program and Functional Nutrition Course. She has been lecturing internationally on lifestyle and Functional Medicine for more than a decade and has been instrumental in providing Functional Medicine resources for clinicians and nutrition professionals in South Africa.

Dr. Hughes is also a co-developer of the FirstLine Therapy Certification Program and has specialized in the application of lifestyle medicine for managing cardiometabolic syndrome and body composition concerns. At her three clinic locations in Minnesota, she manages an integrated team of healthcare providers, which includes naturopathic physicians, nurses, acupuncturists, massage therapists, and lifestyle coaches. Her clinic site provides preceptor opportunities for naturopathic medical students, offers a naturopathic residency program, and models the integration of Functional Medicine with a naturopathic foundation.

Mark Hyman

Mark Hyman, MD is a practicing family physician and an internationally recognized leader, speaker, educator, and advocate in the field of functional medicine. He is the founder and director of The UltraWellness Center, Founder and Senior Advisor for the Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine, a fifteen-time New York Times best-selling author, and Board President for Clinical Affairs for The Institute for Functional Medicine.  He is the founder and chairman of the Food Fix Campaign, dedicated to transforming our food and agriculture system through policy. He is the host of one of the leading health podcasts, The Doctor’s Farmacy with 150+ million downloads. Dr. Hyman is a regular medical contributor to several television shows and networks, including CBS This Morning, Today, Good Morning America, The View, and CNN.

Kasey Holland

Dr. Kasey is passionate about empowering people in their health. She helps patients navigate complex health concerns and restore health and vitality. As a licensed Naturopathic doctor, she believes that your health is made up of mind, body, and spirit. Through her clinical experience, she has seen environmental toxins, infections, chronic inflammation, and stress disrupt these pillars of health. She uses a complete holistic approach to tackle health concerns no matter how simple or complex they may be.

Kim Bruno

Dr. Kim Bruno, DC, CCN, received her Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine from the National University of Health Sciences in Chicago and completed the Certified Clinical Nutritionist (CCN) board examination. She has continued her post-graduate education through the Institute for Functional Medicine and the Clinical Nutrition Certification Board, ILADS, and Horowitz Lyme Master Courses. Dr. Bruno has dedicated her career to working to find the root cause of patient’s medical issues as well as promoting a prevention model of health care. Dr. Bruno is currently the Clinical Director of Outreach and Senior Medical Science Liaison for Vibrant Wellness Lab, working to educate providers on the use of functional medicine labs for treating complex patients. Before working at Vibrant, she owned a private practice for 17 years and worked together with a variety of healthcare providers in multidisciplinary practices and was a functional medical director at the largest immunology clinic in Colorado. Dr. Bruno is a Colorado native who enjoys hiking and paddle boarding, she finds most joy in spending time outside in nature with her husband and two daughters.

Liam LaTouche

Dr. Liam LaTouche is a Naturopathic Doctor and educator in Ontario, Canada. With over 15 years of experience in fitness/rehabilitation and additional training in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Applied Kinesiology, Neural Therapy, and Homotoxicology, Dr. LaTouche has established a clinical focus in complex chronic disease, including stealth infections, biotoxin illness, autoinflammatory and autoimmune diseases, metabolic and digestive conditions, chronic pain, and chronic fatigue. Dr. LaTouche uses an integrative mind-body approach, rooted in the philosophy of Bioregulatory Medicine, to help patients who experience conditions that have been difficult to diagnose and treat in conventional settings, and who have had limited success working with other practitioners.
